If you are a student and you drive a car you need to have Car insurance because its required by law to have it, you need to know what is the minimum coverage that your state law requires. However for college students car insurance is no cheap and usually the rates are high due to the statistical higher risk that they are involved in an accident.

However there are some things that you can do to reduce your insurance costs, you can ask for student discounts for having good driving record, good credit history, good grades, for installin safety devices and others.
