If a debt collector tries to get in touch with you, the smart thing you can do isn’t talk to these people at all. All they will do is aggravate you to try and get money on the debt. They’re probably going to tell you many things that aren’t the truth. They will try and get you to not pay on whatever else it is you might be paying on such as an automobile loan, power, or even real estate loan. They will try and convince you that it’s okay to defer one of those obligations.
Another goal of the creditors other than attempting to earn income on the account is to gather proof against you so that if the collectors ever attempted to obtain a judgment against you, they will have additional info to pursue you in the courts. The sensible option to get through this is with a debt relief program.
